Happy 1 year to the blog! I can't believe I managed to do this for one year. I've only missed one blog, due to vacation, but I tried to make up for it with a longer subsequent blog.
Doing this blog has been therapeutic for me in a way. It has changed quite a bit from my original plan, even changing names.
When I first set out to do this blog, I intended for it to mainly be about traveling, saving money, and budgeting when it came to my kids' extracurricular activities. While I do still sprinkle a lot of that in through my blog posts, it became more of a running log, or journal if you will, about my family in general. If you haven't figured it out yet, it mostly revolves around my children and their sports. So I guess it hasn't changed a WHOLE lot...
When I first started doing this, I didn't really know what to expect or if I would even stick with it. I had never tried blogging... I wasn't even ever someone who kept a diary or journal as a kid. I didn't know if people would actually read it or not, or if I even really wanted a lot of people to read it.
Did I want people to read it?
Did I want to just do it for myself?
Do I make it public or private?
Those were all the questions I asked when starting this. It was all very foreign to me. I eventually came to the conclusion that I needed to do this for myself and for my friends. I had had several friends ask how I managed to do certain things and instead of telling each of them individually and going through my whole spheel, I decided to put it in blog form so they could reference back. It then evolved and became a challenge for me to help fellow dance/athletic parents with budgeting, hotel meals, traveling, etc. It then evolved again to be more of a free-flow writing project, when I just recap the previous two weeks, anything interesting that happened, news, updates, etc. within my life and my family, and how I've been utilizing or making changes to my previously mentioned tips and tricks.
Over the last year, I have found out that there are several that read (Thank you!!!) and even notice when I'm a day or so late (which I try not to be, but sometimes Life happens). I've even found that it seems to work better for me if I just write a little bit here and there instead of trying to sit down and write the whole blog post in one sitting.
During the course of this blog, I finished my master's degree and then I didn't have that "writing aspect" of my daily life anymore. This really helped to fill that void and even reinvigorated my love for writing. I am by no means a Top Selling author, but I do like writing.... or Typing :)
Currently, I have plans to go back to school sometime this next year to start the process of earning my Ph.D. While I'm working on that phase of my life, I do plan to keep this blog going. I don't know if I will be able to continue 2 posts a month to not, but that is the current plan. It's kind of nice to have this to look back on and see what was going on in my family's life during specific times of the year. It's also a good tool to share my tips on multi-tasking and managing several aspects of life being a busy mom.
I'm going to cut this blog short as I am already prepping my next blog post. I just wanted to share this little milestone with all of you and say Thank you! I still can't really believe I've stuck with this for 1 whole year.
My next blog will be all about the "crutch crew". Make sure to come back for some laughable yet questionable moments involving my kiddos. Thank you again for coming along on this journey with me over the past year, and I hope you stick along for the ride over this coming up year!
